Jobs in elder care

Wakefield Homestead is a 23-bed rest home situated 30km south of Nelson. We employ a mix of permanent and casual staff, and provide care for the elderly, and young people with chronic illness and/or disabilities.

Current vacancies:
We currently have openings for casual staff only. Casual staff cover all of the shifts below.

Shift work hours:

The shifts for support workers are -

Morning shifts: 7am to 3pm, or 7:30am to 3pm

Afternoon shifts: 3pm to 11pm, or 3:30pm to 9pm

Night shift: 11pm to 7am

Other roles work the following hours:

Registered Nurse: 7am to 3.15pm.

Enrolled Nurse: Afternoon shift 3pm to 11pm.

Kitchen Hand: 8.30am to 3pm.

Chefs and cooks: 8.30 to 3pm

Diversional Therapist: 9.30 to 4.30pm (week days)

Housekeeper (Cleaner): 8.30 to 3.30pm

Admin: 20 hours a week.
